Simply put, the letter should describe the material being offered as well as relevant background information about the writer, and include an s.a.s.e. for the agent’s reply.

If the material is of interest, the agent may request a sample or the entire manuscript.

Unsolicited material will be returned unread if accompanied by sufficient postage for its return.
